WHY WE PUT RAILROAD SAFETY FIRST
Protecting lives is the most crucial reason to advocate for railroad safety. People might ask us, “Are trains safe?” and our answer is yes, as long as you’re careful. Trains are powerful machines, and it’s critical that everyone respects them and acts appropriately around them.
Our Railroad Security & Safety Standards
We follow all OSHA railroad safety standards as well all Federal railroad safety regulations to help keep you, as well as all our operators and employees, safe.

How We Keep Our Locomotives in Working Order
Our Mechanical Shop is vital to train and railroad safety by making sure locomotives and railcars are in optimal working condition to prevent accidents and malfunctions. This includes routine maintenance and scheduled inspections, such as the 1,472-day inspection, of all rolling stock (locomotives, freight cars, and passenger cars) to identify potential issues before they become critical.
During these inspections, trained mechanics and inspectors look for wear and tear, damage, and non-compliance with railroad safety requirements. An important part of their role is making sure that all maintenance and repairs adhere to all railroad safety regulations, including Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) standards, covering everything from safety appliances to track and workplace safety.
